Combined website statistics and your choice

Brighton Bandstand automatically counts public page views, profile views, referring website names and outgoing website clicks solely to understand and improve this service. We store combined daily totals. We do not keep individual browsing histories, visitor identifiers, names, email addresses, IP addresses, full referral URLs or search terms in these statistics. The totals are not shared with advertising services or used to target people.

You can stop future counting using “Opt out” in the notice, or “Website statistics preferences” at the bottom of public pages. “Got it” closes the notice and leaves counting on. This choice is free and does not affect access to the website. Your choice and notice-dismissal preference are remembered in this browser’s local storage for six months. An earlier “No thanks” choice is respected. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals also stop collection.

Combined daily totals are kept for 90 days and expired totals are removed on the next collection or report request. The website’s existing session and security controls protect the collection form against forgery; session identifiers are not saved in the totals or used to connect browsing activity. Separate one-time request hashes have no page, visitor or destination information and expire after 31 minutes; expired hashes are removed on the next collection or report request. Existing hosting access logs and essential website cookies are separate.

    1. Introduction

  • 1.1 Our website uses cookies.
  • 1.2 We ask for consent where required for non-essential cookies. The combined statistics described above provide a clear notice and an easy way to stop counting.
  • 2. About cookies

  • 2.1 A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.
  • 2.2 Cookies may be either "persistent" cookies or "session" cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed.
  • 2.3 Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.
  • 3. Cookies that we use

  • 3.1 We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • (e) analysis - we use cookies to help us to analyse the use and performance of our website and services; and
  • (f) cookie consent - we use cookies to store your preferences in relation to the use of cookies more generally.
  • 4. Managing cookies
